  • Edo need security sovereignty and power to make laws, regulate conducts, protect Edo lives and properties and safeguard our territorial integrity.

  • International legal sovereignty and formal recognition by other sovereign states as an independent nation

  • Domestic sovereignty and the ability to exercise actual control and authority, and organized our nation in accordance with our cultural detects

  • Interdependence sovereignty and to have the ability to control the movement of goods and people across our state's borders, assuming the borders exist

  • Economic sovereignty and the ability to manage our natural and human resources for the betterment of our people

WHY EDO AUTHONOMY

The geographical quagmire called Nigeria has failed in many ways the Edo people and nation. An obvious fact that the Edo people have being marginalized, discriminated, robbed of her own land, resources and limited to minority statues since her creation. For example:

1. Our security has been compromised by the saga of the northern caliphate and boko haram,

2. Our youths cannot find descent work or be gainfully employed due to the obnoxious federal character formula, though many are better educated and qualified,

3. Our economy is badly mismanaged and controlled by criminal oligarchs and cabals

4. The levels of poverty across the country, in a particular among Edos has progressively worsened since independence in 1960

5. Our ability to influenced national matters and policies has gradually demised due to our relative population size

6. Lack of resource control means as a nation we unable to manage the natural resources within our geographical landscape

7. Our pre 1897 sovereignty was forcibly removed by the British without due regards to international laws

8. Our esteemed identity and traditional institutions has been reduced and decimated beyond recognition even below the ranks of local government chairpersons

9. We can no-longer identify with Nigeria project because our interest is not served by the current political, economic and sociocultural settlement

10. The sovereign wealth of Nigeria has been used solely to develop Lagos, Abuja and other parts of North and Western Nigeria at the expense of other geo-political zones, in particularly the South South geopolitical zone to which Edo Nation belongs.

11. Nigeria has gradually been Islamized without due regards to other indigenous religion, faiths, culture and traditions.

12. The Nigeria naira has been progressively disvalued and poorly managed compared other major currency of the world.

13 Nigeria mono-economy has become stagnated, underperforming and remains a undiversified compared to major economies

14 Political Nigeria is failed state based on international yardsticks, there market failure in the generation and supply of electricity, pipe borne water, effective roads, healthcare system, poor education at all levels, and above all poor governance,

15. Our national assembly’s have been reduced to a laughing stock internationally with elected law makers openingly breaking laws and bringing the national assembly to disrepute.

16 Politically, Nigeria is failed state based on international yardsticks, there is market failure in the generation and supply of electricity, pipe borne water, effective roads, healthcare system, poor education at all levels, and above all poor governance

17. They turned our land into an impromptu burial ground to cover up their heinous crimes; please name the last professional organization - not including the proposed mega gas plant - to be set up in Edo. A business - that could merit a listing on our stock exchange.
