A Clarion call to Edoid Nation worldwide
Where ever you are, whatever you are doing, so long you have Edo blood in you, spare some of your time, tell your papa, tell your mama, tell your sister, tell your brother to do same and together we will march, run, sing and dance (fight if need be) to retrieve what was stolen form our forfathers over a century ago (EDO NATION) and to restore our dignity among nations of the world as it were before 1897, when the looters and oppressors in colaboration with our jealous neighbours took away our Great King to forced exile and our forefathers killed and maimed, their life properties stolen and houses burnt. Together we must let the world know that we have endured enough, we have pretended enought, this time its our nation or nothing. Our lamentations all this long is being heard and attended to by the spirits of our heroes past and now is the time to really act. Many of us have long been thinking of how to start this movement, it was only a matter of time. Now the time is ripe and the moment we have all been waiting for is here. This is the appropriate time for us the Edos to take our destiny in our hand, ignore the spoils of office and fight for our Edo nation. We must seek for the restoration of Benin Kingdom where no man will be oppressed with political/religious hipocracy and socio-economic maginalizations I know, God almighty and our great Ancestors will not let us fail, together we will all march to glory, though its not going to be easy but we have the men and strenght to weather the storm. Forward Ever! Edo Nation must come to be! Benin Kingdom must be restured to the former status-plus and including the areas acruing from 1897 till now!! Share the group on your profile pages, invite friends, tell someone about this because a lot of Edo people are still ignorant and in self denial about our reality. Make a call to your family friend, associate and comrades. if you wish, change your profile foto to the Edo flag like some have already done. Tell someone you know close to the palace, in the political seting in Nigeria, an influential personality etc. If you are a lawyer, entrepreneur, medico practitioners, or politician, inform your colleagues, seat together, and design a reason to leave a legacy of your selfless contribution to the liberation of your people. No harm in trying, Rome wasn’t built in a day, no end without a beginning, no venture no success, no battle no victory, no challenge no champion. Not a matter of what they can do or donot but what I can do. Obama never belief he could get to this far to be the first black president of the United States of America until he some up courage and TRIED. He who fight and run away leave to fight another day. I personally have given the image of the flag to a printer to print me about 5 big cloth of the Edo flag to place in a church, house, office, and other public place where the influence of Nigerians are felt. “Of all the initiatives ever projected by us, this ranks the best and most germane. I have been crying it to the rooftops day in,day out,WHAT IS OUR FOCUSS AND DIRECTION SHOULD NIGERIA DECIDED TO CALL IT QUIT EITHER PEACEFULLY OR BY BELLIGERENT MEANS? Simply put, what will be our fate as a nation. Many socio-cultural edo groups have been existing for a long time but their main activities are limited to periodical social chit-chats over "rice and stew". None has ever discussed anything of substance about our fate as a nation. OPC of Yoruba claims Edo nation as its extended area of influence and no voice from Edo protested this. Niger Delta Volunteers Force ( NDVF) have states Coordinators from all the South-South States except Edo. They added Edo to the Delta State coordinator's domain.We also kept mute. Our natural minerals are being tapped and depleted by other communities who are collecting royalties for them,communities that used to be our vassals and we still don't give a hoot.Our lands have been partitioned amongst the neighboring states officially and unofficially by the misconceived Nigeria Government and contrived geo-political entity but we remained actionless in our various comfort zones. Nigeria gets her largest supply of natural Gas from Orhionmwon and even distribute from it to other Africa countries without appreciable compensation to us and we are almost complicit in the fraud. We build for others and not ourselves. Innit? Are the best unionists in nigeria not from Edo state?..Imoudu,Oshiomhole and now Esene? We like talking and living highfalutin lives and developing rare tastes but lack the vigor and zest for the things that mattered the most. We cannot really be worthy children of our fathers that conquered and established the strongest and largest Kingdom in the West Africa Rain-forest with their strength and wisdom. Our forefathers that ranked only with Ethiopia kings as having managed the most dreaded Kingdom in Africa which bested the British Invasion. No! Ewuare,Esigie,Ozolua,Eweka,Ehenmehen,Ovoranmwen would all be writhing in their graves to have produced such weak and criminally docile children who deliberately and shamelessly frittered away their inheritances for pots of pottage. The greatest insult of all is how the bight of Benin could be in ondo state. They did this with all sense of impunity. They even allow the place to retain its name to dare our resolve. What can we do...nothing. We are the freakish children of lions who turned out to be lambs. Meek and foolish lambs( forgive my language).The foregoing is a very long preamble of what I want to say here. I just want us to reflect and inflect and understand what sacrifices we are going to make to realize this project. We must create a nation and promote it. We must not operate in theories. It doesn't work that way. If we adopt a constitutional monarchy (which I support by the way as our true identity is tied to our royalty), we must draft a constitution spelling out a detailed structure of the Nation. We must adopt a flag. We must adopt an anthem and we must even design emblems and a currency. That is how Biafrians are doing it. We must also appoint ambassadors to the various nations in the world. We must define ourselves in every term of a nation. It is that nation that will begin to lay legitimate claims to its lands and resources. Lagos must be reclaimed and so is all ondo, part Ekiti, ado etc. until we start from the suggested basics, we will be regarded as clinging cymbals. We have to start periodic but frequent physical meetings too so as to achieve these. And please and please, we are doing this not as Benins, Esans,Afemais but as Edos and true children of the great Benin empire. We are family and we must act as one.
